1- Red Dead Redemption 2
First up on our list is a slightly older one but our favourite option, Red Dead Redemption 2. Released in October 2018, this game is an action-adventure video game which is set in 1899 and follows a gang of outlaws who have failed a robbery and now must fight against the law whilst travelling across America when problems threaten to tear the group apart.
Available on PlayStation and Xbox it is the perfect single-player game which has a great open world with plenty of missions, challenges, exploration, and hunting so you will never get bored when playing.

2- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Second on the list is a lot more recent, the 2024 edition of Final Fantasy Rebirth. This PS5-based fighting, action video game is just perfect for single-player. There is a good amount of side quests with interesting characters to meet along the way. It follows the events of the previous game where it is revealed the main character Zack Fair that is living in a timeline where the end of the world is approaching due to the Planet’s mako being completely emptied.

This action-adventure video game shows players our leading characters Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who are struggling to navigate the next steps in their lives whilst still combating several new threats in the city. 4- God of War Ragnarok
God Of War Ragnarok has been described as one of the best single-player video games on the PS5. It has a good selection of content to get through whilst playing with a strong storyline throughout. Set in a post-apocalyptic United States the game follows our 2 leading characters Ellie who is setting out for revenge for a murder, and Abby, a soldier who becomes involved in a conflict between her militia and a religious cult. 8- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Nearing the end of our list now we have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, a PlayStation/ Xbox game that is heavily orientated around single-player use. Although quite an old game released in May 2015, this fighting video game is brilliant for single-player, although compatible with multiplayer too. In the game, players control Geralt Of Rivia, a monster slayer for hire known as a Witcher, who searches for his daughter who is on the run from the magical creatures the Wild Hunt.

Released in December 2020 on PlayStation and Xbox, this shooter video game is set in 2077 and follows local fixer Dexter who hires V and Jackie to help steal a biochip known as ‘the Relic’. 10- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Our final recommendation for the best single-player video game has to be The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, a fighting video game available on Nintendo Switch.
