It’s that time again. Both PlayStation and Xbox have announced the free games that will be available for PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold subscribers. As a warning to those who haven’t picked up the free games of May, you only have until the 31st to get your hands on them before they change.
As for the games available with PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold, PS Plus looks to have some fairly decent games. But Xbox Live Gold continues to offer games that aren’t particularly great. Now, let’s look at the games, starting with the free games for PS Plus June 2021.
PS Plus:
Operation Tango (PS5):
Operation Tango is the first of the new PS Plus games available for June, and is exclusive for PS5 users. Operation Tango is a cooperative spy-based adventure game where you and your friend must complete a number of highly-dangerous missions and puzzles in a future based world.
You will be playing with your friend, with one of you playing as the agent, and the other as the hacker. As a team, you will complete different tasks and puzzles from two different points of view with communication being the key to success.
This will become available with all of the other PS Plus games from the first of June, until July 5th.

Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown (PS4):
Next on the list is Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, a PlayStation exclusive one-on-one fighting game made by the developers of Yakuza and Judgement: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. This game will debut exclusively for PS Plus.
Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown is a remake of Sega’s classic 3D fighter. Fitted with wonderful high-quality graphics, but also new features like: custom online tournaments that allow 16-players to fight and people to spectate. All the classic features from the original have been included as well to perfect your gameplay experience.
This game will be available for two months with PlayStation Plus, from June 1st to August 2nd.

Star Wars: Squadrons (PS4):
The last of the games available with PS Plus for June is Star Wars: Squadrons. Based within the world of Star Wars, you can enjoy a single-player story or fast-paced multiplayer all from the control of a starfighter.
You can play from the perspective of either the New Republic or the Empire, to view two different stories and vehicles. You can even experience the game in virtual reality if you have a PSVR, allowing you get a greater feel for the combat.

Xbox Live Gold:
The King’s Bird (Xbox One and Xbox Series X):
The first of the free games for Xbox Live Gold is The King’s Bird. A movement-based platform game that tests your precision. You have to move quickly in this artistic platform adventure in a finely designed world.
This game is usually worth around £17 with Microsoft, and will become available from June 1st to June 30th.

Shadows: Awakening (Xbox One and Xbox Series X):
Second on the list of Xbox Live Gold games for June is Shadows: Awakening. A single player RPG involving real-time deep combat. Allowing you to play a lengthy campaign with some great replayability. You can solve some challenging puzzles and earn great loot in an expansive crafting and looting system.
In Shadows Awakening, you play as a demon from the Shadow Realm looking to take the souls of dead heroes in a massive adventure.
This game is worth around £25 normally through the Microsoft store, and will be available for free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers from June 16th to July 15th.

NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (Xbox 360):
NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is a backwards compatible game that will be available for Xbox Live Gold users from June 1st to June 30th. This is a fighter game that features a multitude of different characters with unique abilities and weapons.
NeoGeo Battle Coliseum is usually worth around £7 from the Microsoft and Xbox store.

Injustice: Gods Among Us (Xbox 360):
The final game is Injustice: Gods Among Us. Another backwards compatible game that can be played on any Xbox platform. Made by the makers of the Mortal Combat, Injustice is a fighting game that is focused on some of DC’s most popular superheroes and villains.
You can enjoy a deep story line and brutal fights with your favourite DC characters, or even fight against your friends in multiplayer modes.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is normally worth £25, but will be free from June 16th to June 30th.
