LEGO Horizon Adventures was released on November 14th, 2024, and is an action-adventure video game available on Nintendo Switch and the PS5. The game was originally announced in June 2024 at the Summer Game Fest, before it was revealed in September that it would be hitting stores in mid-November. Now, we are here, on the official release day.
After waiting five months for the arrival date, we are finally here, ready to check out what is in store for this new LEGO game. So, let’s see if it was really worth the hype. Let’s take a look!

What is Lego Horizon Adventures?
LEGO Horizon Adventures follows the main character Aloy who is navigating the forests of the Sacred Lambs, the Snow chant Mountains and the Sunfall Desert. On the journey, Aloy must battle hostile machines and uncover the secrets of the lost civilisation.
The game may sound familiar, and that’s because it is based on the popular 2017 video Horizon Zero Dawn. This November 2024 video game simply retells the story in LEGO form, meaning both LEGO and Horizon Zero fans can come together on a brand-new adventure.
Is Lego Horizon Adventures worth it?
The first thing we loved about this game was how it follows the original story carefully, but still offers some LEGO twists to make it slightly different. The story is simplified but still keeps the key moments of the original game. Whilst the game is aimed at children, we like how it offers a much younger feel to it whilst still staying true to the 2017 version. The game takes around a day to complete with continuous gaming, and considering the game is aimed towards younger audiences, this is great as it keeps the gamers interested and entertained without being too long and boring.
There are great customisation choices including a variety of difficulty options for players so you can control how you play the game. And of course, the graphics are gorgeous, and the combat feels smooth and realistic.
Improvements:
We did, however, come across a couple of errors. Of course, if you aren’t a LEGO fan this game isn’t for you, as it is completely based around the LEGO universe. Some levels do feel slightly predictable even if you haven’t played the original game, and it felt like occasional sections of the game were too simple. We understand the game is aimed at young families which explains why we thought certain parts were too easy, but it would still have been good to have sections that were slightly harder to give a bit of a challenge aspect.

Conclusion:
Overall, we are pleased with the new LEGO game however, we don’t think it quite deserved the anticipation and hype surrounding it. It’s a great video game to treat your child to this Christmas however it is realistically quite a quick game when it comes to the difficulty and general gameplay. For any fans of the 2017 version we do recommend trying the game out, just take into consideration that some parts of the game have been altered to match the LEGO aesthetic and childlike age category.
