It's a puzzle, action game that is based on an old video game from 2014. Initially, when the game was announced gamers were told it would be released in early 2025 and a February 2025 release date was set. Now, it's been confirmed that the game released in April 2025, and here we are!

Is Talos Principle worth it?

Talos Reawakened already received a lot of attention before it was released, because the 2025 game is actually a remastered edition of the 2014 game The Talos Principle which used Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of Unreal Engine which was developed by Unreal Games in 2020.

The new edition revisits the captivating story of The Talos Principle whilst immersing players into an expanded and remastered journey through the world of the Simulation. The Reawakened version introduces all new content whilst enhancing gameplay and creating gorgeously updated scenery.

What is the story of The Talos Principle?

So before we delve into what we loved about the game, let's explore it's storyline. The game focuses on our lead character Alexandra Drennan who's facing intense existential questions whilst trying to orchestrate the Simulation's first important test. The game challenges players to think deeply about the human condition and connect on personal levels with human emotions.

Does Talos Principle have a new story?

As we've mentioned, the games a remastered edition of the 2014 game, so a lot of the gameplay is still very similar just obviously with improved features. There's one aspect to the game that isn't familiar and that's the brand new additional chapter called In The Beginning. This fresh chapter explores the origins of the Simulation and the challenges of its first test, adding new layers and context to the games narration. We're not going to spoil too much of the new chapter considering it adds great depth to Talos Reawakened. We love how Talos Reawakened has still managed to keep the game fresh and modern whilst referring back to the original gameplay.

We love the premise of this new chapter because it paves the way for a possible reawakened series based on the history of the Simulation, which we know is a key aspect to the game.

Is Talos Principle fun?

We struggled to find a specific part of the game that we weren't keen on. We thought it was an overall good game. Some other online gamers have mentioned they feel like the game is a 'one play only' type game with no need to replay. But we'll leave that opinion with you for once you've played the game yourself.

Conclusion:

Overall the game was good. But it doesn't stand out. It's worth playing but not worth the hype around it's release. Essentially, it's a reimagined video game with improved graphics and an additional storyline. (which we admit does have potential to go far) We're certainly not saying this game is bad, more that it feels like nothing major has changed. Of course, the graphics will be better considering it's been 10 years that's standard and we expected some kind of new addition to be brought to the game. At the same time, we're just expecting something more.
