What does the PlayStation Portable do?
On November 15th, 2023, PlayStation released its latest console, which works hand in hand with the PS5 console. The PS5 Portable Console. This new device is a handheld gaming accessory developed by Sony to work alongside the PS5, initially announced in May 2023, the latest PlayStation Console is finally here, and we can’t wait to find out more!
The PlayStation Portable is a remote player device that pairs with your PS5 and mirrors its games. The device was made as a companion to the PS5, not as a complete alternative, as the console cannot work without being connected to the PS5 console in some way. Gamers can play anywhere on the PS Portal as long as they're on the same WI-FI Network as their PS5. So now we know what the new console does, what about how it looks?
The PS Portable Console 2023 looks like a regular PS5 controller, with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The only difference is that there is a giant 8-inch touchscreen in the middle of the controller. As there are no wires involved, because the console needs WIFI to connect to the PS5, gamers can swiftly move around their house whilst gaming, without being stuck in one specific room.

I still use my PS Vita. It can mirror my PS3 and PS4 but most importantly, it is a stand-alone, portable games console. I can’t see the point of a ‘console’ that will only work if you’re connected to a ps5 on the same wifi network. It feels like a solution to a problem that nobody had.
What we need is a new version of the Vita that’s a direct competitor to the Steamdeck or Switch.
