Nintendo Direct was announced at the start of the year in a surprise social campaign by Nintendo. In the campaign video, we got an insight into the new Nintendo Switch 2, the upcoming Mario Kart 9, and the Nintendo Direct Event which will be held on April 2nd, 2025. With less than a month until the Nintendo Direct Event, let's look at what we expect to see. Whilst we already know some factors that will be mentioned by Nintendo, there are a couple of additional releases we at Custom Controllers believe we'll see. So let's get on with the blog and look at what to expect from Nintendo Direct 2025.

What is the Nintendo Direct about?
As we mentioned, Nintendo Direct will be held on April 2nd 2025, at 2 pm BST time. The event is an opportunity for Nintendo fans to get an insight into upcoming Nintendo news, from game releases to console updates to recent events. Fans can watch the event on Nintendo's official YouTube channel, or various streamers who'll be offering the event for viewing. There's no official length of the event, though we assume it'll be between 40 minutes to 1-hour mark if it follows the same rules as the previous Direct events.
Is Nintendo Switch 2 direct scheduled for April 2nd 2025 to reveal more details?
So what will be mentioned in the event? As we know, the event is focussing on the Switch 2. Nintendo has already stated this themselves. We'll get further information on the Switch console itself, features of the console, a release date, price tag and more details on the Joycon sticks. One of the joy-con controllers (the red one) has a new button which gamers are nicknaming 'The C Button', we assume more on this button will be announced along with the rumour the Switch 2 joy-con can be used as a computer mouse.
Immediately after the event is held, Nintendo is beginning an epic worldwide tour across various huge cities, promoting the Switch 2, where Nintendo fans can take a look at the console in real life and try it out themselves. Hopefully, we find out more about this on April 2nd.

And finally, we think we'll hear more about the Switch 2's official first game, Mario Kart 9. The game was revealed during the Switch 2 campaign however we only saw a 20-second trailer. We've got no idea what the game is called, its price, if it's compatible with the original Switch and of course... we don't know how the game differs from Mario Kart 8! It would be great to get further insights into this game, and of course, we'll bring you to document this new Mario Kart edition!
Will the Switch 1 be mentioned much?
As of yet, the information we've already mentioned in the blog is more or less confirmed to be announced at at the event. There's an 80% chance of seeing those details revealed at Nintendo Direct. But there're still a couple factors we believe will be announced. And they regard the Switch 1.
Nintendo are currently focused on their new console, which we know will be bigger and better than the previous one. We're also aware however that the Switch 1 will surge in sales, with its price dropping and gamers on a budget racing to get the old edition before the new one steals its spotlight. The console has shipped over 150 million units worldwide and is Nintendo's best-selling home console and the third-best-selling gaming console of all time. We'd be very surprised if the Switch 1 doesn't receive any attention.
Because we know the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, we'll hear about what games can be played on each console. We're also expecting some games from the Switch 1 to be remastered and re-released on Switch 2, we think Nintendo Direct will be where this information is revealed. One thing we're sure we won't hear however is the Switch 1 console in terms of that consoles updates and new games. Because this event is strictly Switch 2-based, we don't want to hear about the original console, it's had 8 years of fame... it's time to move on.
