Thank Goodness You’re Here!
The first game available is releasing on the very first day of August, August 1st, and is Thank Goodness You’re Here! The game is an indie, platforming video game set in a bizarre Northern English town, where players control a salesman who is exploring the town and meeting locals who are keen to give him a series of very interesting jobs… The game was initially announced in late 2023, and since then it has received much positivity for its unique and different storyline which has left a good first impression on gamers. Since then, it has simply been a waiting game until the day we finally see Thank Goodness You’re Here on our shelves. Check out the game on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch!
Volgarr the Viking II:
Less than a week later on August 6th, fans can expect to see Volgarr The Viking II release on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It is a fighting, platform game where players control the warrior Volgarr who is armed with a sword, spear and shield. The mission is to kill a dragon commanded by Odin, but precision is everything and with one false move players could face a nasty brutal death. The original version of the game was released in September 2013, so it has been a long (almost 10 years) wait for the sequel to release. Because it has been so long since the original game came out, gamers cannot wait to finally return to Volgarr to see the game's fresh, modern upgrade.
Cat Quest 3:
August 8th will see the release of the role-playing, adventure video game Cat Quest 3. Available on all platforms, it has been 5 years since the second edition of the game was released so already it has gained massive anticipation. Set in an open, fantasy pirate-themed world, players enter The Purribean which is swarming with Pi-rats who are searching for the Northern Star, a long-lost magical treasure. Besides such a long release gap since the previous game came out, Cat Quest 3 has also gained huge anticipation due to its release trailer. The trailer shows a sharp, detailed look to the graphics and fans cannot wait to see how it will differ from the previous games.
SteamWorld Heist II:
Also releasing on August 8th is another indie, adventure video game, SteamWorld Heist II. The previous game, SteamWorld II also sees a wide release gap between itself and the previous game. It has been 10 years since the original game was released in December 2015! The storyline follows when the water of the town turns deadly and residents limbs and hearts turn to metal and mechanic. Players must control Captain Leeway and his crew of Steambots to try and uncover what is threatening the Great Sea. The game is full of precision and challenges, great for any action-adventurer. Ever since the game was announced, it has received wide positivity and looks very promising. We cannot wait to check it out on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Madden NFL 25:
As we enter the middle of the month, on August 16th, PlayStation and Xbox Series X fans can expect to see a new sports video hit stores. Madden NFL 25 follows a series of NFL and releases a year later after Madden NFL 24. The game is all based on tackling and working with physics. Cut loose and attack using powerful hit sticks, cut sticks, truck dives and stiff arms to gain control of the game. Of course, the game is part of the iconic NFL series, and fans cannot wait to try it out!
Gori: Cuddly Carnage:
August has seen a splurge of indie and small video game creators reaching the limelight getting the chance to shine, and on August 29th, adventure genre fans can enjoy Gori: Cuddly Carnage on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. With humanity destroyed, it’s up to Gori and his deadly hoverboard F.R.A.N.K. to slay the evil Adorable Army using lethal combos. What is so exciting about this game is that it has been nominated for the Anticipated GEM Award from the Patch of Approval Awards from Patch Magazine, so gamers are extra excited to see if Cuddly Carnage lives up to the hype.
Star Wars Outlaws:
And finally, August 2024 ends with a bang when it comes to video game releases with Star Wars Outlaws. Releasing August 30th on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, this game is a shooter video game that explores numerous locations around the galaxy, both iconic settings and new locations. Star Wars outlaws gameplay has players control Kay Vess, who is seeking freedom and is attempting to start a new life. Along with her new companion Nix, fight, steal and sneak your way through the crime within the galaxy as you join the Most Wanted list and escape. A good Star Wars game is always widely anticipated, especially among the big gaming and movie fans… so we know this edition will be huge!
