What happened at the Switch 2 experience?
Before entering the event, guests had to wait in a queue for their allocated time slot to try out the console in the gaming experience area. Once inside, the expected gameplay was said to have lasted just under 3 hours. Visitors received a coloured wristband to highlight what time slot they were entering the experience. As visitors made their way along the queue, informative videos and demos played on screens nearby leading up to a curtain, which behind it lay the Nintendo Switch 2.
There were numerous Switch 2 consoles lined up with Switch 2 employees nearby, meaning you could game away and ask an employee for further details on the games or the console itself.
What was revealed in the Nintendo Experience?
So let's focus on the actual main detail of the event, the Switch 2 and compatible games. Many reviews stated that the console was a lot bigger than expected. We knew the console has a 7.9" screen which is much bigger than the original consoles 7" screen, but when you see this comparison in person it can be a real eye opener! Lots of gamers have been inquisitive about the new Joycon, with them having magnetic attachments, larger sizes, mouse adaptations and more; again gamers said that the larger features on the Joycon made gaming feel a lot more comfortable and that gameplay had an immediate improvement.
Shifting to the video games at the experience, visitors didn't get to appreciate the games at their full potential. We understand this is because Nintendo doesn't want to entirely ruin the game by letting visitors play the whole thing for free. For Mario Kart World, the main video game everyone is talking about, a demo game was made available. Of course, the game had the iconic 24 racers instead of 12, the bigger racetracks and the freedom to explore the race. It appeared like the game was slower than Mario Kart 8 but again, because of the demo it was limited to 100cc. Visitors also got an inside scoop into Metroid Prime 4 and Donkey Kong Bananza.
