Will the Nintendo Switch 2 come out soon?

Let's start with the most important factor for the new console, it's release date. We haven't yet been given a date, but we can guess. The end of the video stated that the iconic Nintendo Direct Event (an event where Nintendo reveal their latest video games and console news) will be held on April 2nd 2025.

Directly after this, a Nintendo Switch 2 Tour will commence, heading to numerous cities all over the world allowing gamers to test out the new console and it's gameplay. The console will head to London on April 11th-13th 2025.

Other locations include:

  • New York
  • LA
  • Dallas
  • Toronto
  • Paris
  • Milan
  • Berlin
  • Madrid
  • Amsterdam
  • Australia
  • Tokyo
  • Japan

After this news, it's become clear to fans that the Switch will most likely release in April 2025, making it over 8 years since it's previous model was released.

What will the Switch 2 look like?

The majority of the video focussed on console design. From the video, we saw:

  • Switch 2 will have the same design as the 2017 console, screen in the centre, controllers on the sides.
  • The two joycon controllers will be removable.
  • The controllers will magnetically attach to the console, which was already predicted.
  • The right joycon has an extra button, we will find out more about this in the future...
  • The console itself offers a built-in controller stand instead of the separate stand to be placed into.
  • Backwards compatibility for games.

Whereas the old console was red and blue, this one is predominately black with some hints of red and blue inside the consoles buttons and compartments. We really like this, as it gives the Switch 2 a sleek design that's different to the original, whilst still hinting to the previous iconic model.
