The next lineup of free PS Plus games has been revealed for October, and it looks like there is quite a bit to look forward to once again. PS Plus has consistently delivered a series of entertaining and high-value games, for free for users. And with PS Plus games in October, we see this once again. Three popular games will be available for PS Plus users to claim from the 3rd of October.
This also means that now is your last chance to pick up the free PS Plus games from September. Which includes Need for Speed Heat, Granblue Fantasy: Versus and Toem.
Hot Wheels Unleashed (PS4 & PS5)
First up in the free PS Plus games of October is the arcade racing game: Hot Wheels Unleashed. Made by Milestone in September of 2021, Hot Wheels Unleashed was released for all platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Hot Wheels Unleashed gives you full control of a variety of vehicles from the Hot Wheels franchise. Letting you race against up to 12 others across a series of miniature tracks and circuits that are set within your everyday environments. You can race through tracks within garages, kitchens, bedrooms and much more.
The game also features a career mode that you can jump into, a series of time trials for those who want a challenge, and the ability to create your tracks. Along with 66 fully customisable cars available from launch. Though this is likely to be more now.
Hot Wheels Unleashed received quite positive reviews online. With the PS5 version getting a 75 Metascore and a 7.6 user score on Metacritic, and the PS4 version receiving a 74 Metascore and a 7.0 user score. The game is praised for its entertaining mechanics, fun gameplay, and strong customisation options.
Hot Wheels Unleashed is normally worth £39.99 on the PS Store, and even has a game trial available if you have PS Plus Premium.
Injustice 2 (PS4)
Second in the line-up is DC’s fighting game and the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us. Injustice 2 was released in 2017 and is based on the DC Universe. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. This game is available for PS4, Xbox One and PC, and does not have a next-gen upgraded version.
Injustice 2 is very similar to its predecessor, being a one-on-one combat fighting game that features a huge variety of characters from the DC universe. Along with many remaining mechanics, like stage transitions, character traits and more. But there are also many new features, including a gear system that allows you to obtain various cosmetics and pieces of equipment.
Not to mention the various modes, including a campaign, online multiplayer, arcade modes and a multiverse mode that allows players to travel through a series of parallel worlds and fight various opponents.
Injustice 2 received quite positive reviews online. Its PS4 version received a Metascore of 87 and a user score of 8.0 With praises going towards the strong and responsive gameplay and a stronger roster compared to the first game.
Injustice 2 is normally worth £15.99 on the PS Store and is also included with the game catalogue if you have PS Plus Premium or Extra.
Superhot (PS4)
The last of the PS Plus games this month is Superhot. A first-person shooter made by the Superhot team that features a very entertaining concept.
Though the game follows the traditional mechanic of taking out all your targets with a variety of weapons, the twist is that the game only progresses at normal speed when you are moving. When you stand still, time within the game slows down. Allowing you the opportunity to pick out your targets and make a move before your targets can.
The game takes place in a virtual minimalistic environment, where you can play in a level-based campaign where you must take out a set number of enemies in different locations, or an endless mode where the aim is to survive as long as possible.
Superhot for the PS4 received quite mixed reviews. With a Metascore of 83 and a user score of 7.3. The game is praised for its unique concept, but complaints about its story.
Superhot is normally worth £19.99 on the PS Store.
Overall
With PS Plus this month you will be saving roughly £76 overall. A neat discount for all the PS Plus subscribers.
