Ultimate Just Dance Series Comparison

Ultimate Just Dance Series Comparison

Just Dance is probably the most popular dance game platform in existence. Everyone remembers dancing along to the classic songs, trying to keep up with the characters on screen and hoping their WII remote doesn't fling off their hand into the TV screen. And we know that everyone had a favourite Just Dance song that they performed the best!

There are 16 mainline Just Dance games and a brand new one rumoured to be releasing in 2025. On top of this, Just Dance has a selection of sub-series and spin-offs, 4 other games to be exact. We thought we'd rank these games in order of the worst to best (including the original Just Dance game) so you can see which one you'd love to give a try. Let's get into it!

What Just Dance games are there:

  • Just Dance (Games 1-16) - 2009
  • Just Dance Kids - 2010
  • ABBA Just Dance - 2011
  • Just Dance Disney Party - 2012
  • Just Dance Disney 2 - 2015

5 - Just Dance Kids

Release date: November 2010

Songs included: Happy birthday to you, Just haven't met you yet, Celebration, ABC.

The game was made available on WII, PS3 and Xbox 360. The dances were made a lot simpler; the songs are also aimed at kids (hence the name). With popular nursery rhymes, classic songs and TV show music to dance along to. We placed this game in last place because there are many other Just Dance entries aimed specifically at children, Just Dance Kids simply feels like the weaker one.

Pros: Cons:
  • Great for very young kids
  • Simple dance moves
  • Need more song options

4 - ABBA Just Dance

Release date: November 2011

Songs included: Angeleyes, Dancing Queen, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, Fernando.

Available on WII only, the game allows players to dance with up to 4 players. You can choose which iconic ABBA member you'd like to play as. From the bands most iconic numbers to their hidden gems, dance the night away to the best of ABBA.

Pros: Cons:
  • Colourful visuals
  • Engaging dance moves
  • Graphics feel slightly fuzzy

3 - Just Dance Disney 2

Release date: Released October 2015

Songs included: Be our guest, Calling all the monsters, Everything is not what it seems, Evil like me.

Available on Xbox One, WII, WII U and Xbox 360, Just Dance Disney 2 is the sequel to the original 2012 edition of Just Dance Disney. It uses songs specifically from Disney Channel and Disney movies, perfect for any Disney lovers! We had to put this game below its sequel, with the original games popularity and performance leading onto the second addition.

Pros: Cons:
  •  Feels like a workout
  • Can feel quite challenging
  • Disney song choices are very modern, few classics

2 - Just Dance Disney Party

Release date: October 2012

Songs included: The Bare Necessities, Be our guest, Set it off, Take on the world.

Available on the WII and Xbox 360, this game is specifically aimed for kids also. It contains popular songs from movies and TV shows. The reason we've put this choice in second place is because it has an additional karaoke option where players can sing along as well to their favourite songs for bonus points.

Pros: Cons:
  • Great fitness for kids
  • Parents section
  • Not as many duo/trio work

1 - Just Dance

Release date: November 2009

Songs included: Just Dance, Heaven, I like to move it, Cha cha slide.

Of course, our number one position had to be the classic Just Dance. With the iconic songs with unforgettable dance moves, this game started off everything. In the original game, the motions were very simple to pick up and easy to follow.

Pros: Cons:
  • Great song choices
  • Engaging dance moves
  • Dances feel too repetitive
